“God Pod:” Texas Jail Considers All-Christian Unit
The Tarrant County, Texas, jail maintained a special unit exclusively for Christians. Inmates called it the “God Pod,” and it included Bible-reading, hymn singing, and religious instructional videos.
Prison officials called it the Christian Rehabilitation Pod.
The head of the Fort Worth chapter of the ACLU on this day called it a “clear-cut violation” of the Establishment Clause, and a lawsuit challenging the religiously segregated unit appeared imminent.
