“Snowden Document” Reporters Win Prestigious Polk Award
The 2013 George Polk Award for Excellence in Journalism was given to four journalists who reported stories based on the documents about the National Security Agency (NSA), which had been stolen and leaked by former NSA contract employee Edward Snowden.

The four journalists were Glenn Greenwald, Ewen MacAskill and Laura Poitras of The Guardian (UK) and Barton Gellman of the Washington Post. They won their awards in the category of national security reporting.
On April 14, 2014, The 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service was awarded to the Guardian US and the Washington Post for their stories on National Security Agency (NSA) spying based on documents leaked to them by Edward Snowden.
