First Convention of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC)
The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is regarded as the oldest Latino rights organization in the U.S.
The group’s first convention was held in Corpus Christi, Texas, on this day.
The Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF) was founded in San Antonio, Texas, on August 1, 1968. MALDEF was devoted to legal issues involving the Latino community.
