Women’s Groups Recommend Appointment of Women to NY State Board of Regents

 

Women’s groups in New York City on this day recommended the appointment of women to the New York state Board of Regents, the governing body of state colleges and universities.

At the time there were no women on the Board, and none had previously served on the Board.

Groups making the recommendation included the Women’s City Club, the League of Women Voters, the Junior League, the New York State Federation of Teachers and Parents, and the Women’s Trade Union League.
