Pat Robertson Asks God to “Deliver” U.S. from Obama

Rev. Pat Robertson, one of the major leaders of the conservative Christian Right in the U.S. since the late 1970s, on this day asked God to “deliver” the country from President Barack Obama.

The statement was only the latest in a number of outrageous statements by Robertson and other leaders of the Religious Right, in which they yoked their version of Christianity to conservative politics. On September 13, 2001, for example, Rev. Jerry Falwell blamed the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the U.S. on secularism and the ACLU.
