GOP Candidate Rick Santorum Wants U.S. Under “God’s Law”
In the Republican race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, Rick Santorum, former U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, based his campaign on his strong Christian views.
On this day, he said that the U.S. should be governed by “God’s law.”
His position was characteristic of many fundamentalist Christians and their political leaders who believe that religious doctrine — which is to say, their view of what it is — is a higher law than the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
