NYCLU Supports Eight Civil Liberties Bills in NY State Legislature
The New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) announced on this day that it was supporting eight pro-civil liberties bills in the New York state legislature.
Across the country the combination of opposition to the Vietnam War, the civil rights movement and the resurgent women’s rights movement prompted significant pro-civil liberties legislation.
Some historians argue that “the Sixties,” in terms of social change, actually stretched from the mid-1950s into the mid-1970s.
